I walk around the flat. One last time. Looking for anything. I might have missed. The rooms are empty. Echoing. I feel a sense of unease. Of disconnection. This was my home. For years. And now. It's just a space. A vacant room. I check the kitchen. The bathroom. The bedroom. Everything is clean. Tidy. I've left nothing behind. Intentionally. I want to leave. No trace. No memory. I lock the door. And walk away. The keys will be returned. Tomorrow. And that will be it. The end. Of this chapter. This life. I walk down Elgin Street. Feeling the cool night air. On my skin. It's a small thing. But it's enough. To make me feel. Alive.
