my father's love

My father has never been one for words, he's always shown his love through actions, through the way he provides for us, and takes care of us. I remember when I was a child, he would wake up early every morning, to make me breakfast, and pack my lunch, and see me off to school. And when I was sick, he would stay up all night, to take care of me, and nurse me back to health.
He's not one for hugs, or kisses, or words of affection, but he shows his love in other ways. He's always been there for me, whenever I needed him, and he's always supported me, in everything I do. I think that's what I admire most about him, his quiet strength, and his unwavering commitment to our family.
I wish I could be more like him, more patient, more selfless, more loving. But I'm not, I'm more like my mother, emotional, and reactive, and prone to mood swings. I don't know how to reconcile the two, how to balance my emotions, with the need to be strong, and capable.
I just know that I'm grateful for my father, for the way he loves me, and for the sacrifices he's made for us. And I hope that one day, I can be half the parent he's been, and show my own children, the same kind of love, and devotion.
