lecture notes

I still write them. Lecture notes. For no one. I sit at my desk. With my books. With my papers. And I write. I write about history. About literature. About philosophy. I write as if I'm still teaching. As if I still have students. It's been years since I retired. But I still do it. I still write. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's habit. Maybe it's nostalgia. I just know that I need to do it. I need to keep writing. The notes pile up. On my desk. On my shelves.
