faith and doubt

I've been thinking about faith a lot lately, about what it means to me, about why I believe what I believe. I grew up in a Muslim family, and faith was just something that was always there, like a given. But as I've grown older, I've started to question, to doubt, to wonder. Is faith something that's inherited, or is it something that's chosen?
I don't know, to be honest. I think it's a bit of both, maybe. My father's faith was strong, unwavering, and I think some of that has rubbed off on me. But at the same time, I've had to make my own choices, my own decisions, about what I believe, about how I practice my faith. It's not always easy, there are a lot of gray areas, a lot of uncertainties. But I think that's what makes it real, what makes it mine.
I've been reading a lot of Islamic literature, trying to learn more about my faith, about the history, the theology. It's fascinating, but it's also confusing, because there are so many different interpretations, so many different perspectives. I'm still trying to figure it out, to be honest, still trying to find my way. But I think that's okay, I think that's what faith is all about, the searching, the seeking, the questioning.
