the photograph not taken

i remember the moment, the light, the way the trees leaned in. it was a moment of perfect beauty, a moment that i wanted to capture. but i didn't take the photograph.
i'm not sure why. maybe i was too caught up in the moment, too busy experiencing it to think about capturing it. maybe i was afraid of breaking the spell, of shattering the beauty of the moment.
the moment has stayed with me, though. it's a memory that i return to again and again, a memory that i cherish. it's a reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful things in life are the ones we don't capture, the ones we don't try to hold onto.
i think about all the photographs i've taken over the years, all the moments i've tried to capture. but it's the moments i didn't capture that stay with me, that haunt me.
the photograph not taken is a reminder that life is fleeting, that moments are ephemeral. it's a reminder that we can't capture everything, that some things are meant to be experienced, not preserved.
i'm left with the memory of the moment, the feeling of the light on my skin, the sound of the leaves rustling in the wind. it's a memory that i'll carry with me, a memory that i'll return to again and again.
